Employment and Precarity of Elderly Population in Turkey

Despite the fact that one out of every ten people in Turkey is 65 years old or older, the lack of requisite social policies for this age group leaves those people vulnerable. In addition, it has been observed that the long curfews imposed on the age of 65 and over due to the COVID-19 measures do not take into account the social, psychological and economic needs of this age group in the population in the public policies. Alphan Telek, Cem Özgüzel and Seren Selvin Korkmaz provide a forecast of the current situation of the elderly population in Turkey and propose policy suggestions to ensure the elderly population's well-being.
