Edgar Şar is a PhD candidate in Political Science at Bogazici University. He graduated cum laude and received his B.A. degree in Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University and received his Masters degree in Political Science from Bogazici University with his thesis “The Relationship Between Secularism and Democracy: The Case of Turkey in the 2000s”. In his current researches, he specifically focuses on strategies of opposition parties during the contemporary processes of autocratization. His research interests include (de-)democratization processes, theories of democracy and secularism, state-religion-society relations in Turkey and the Middle East and constitutional law. Şar, who is currently a contributor and columnist at Medyascope, an internet-based media platform, is a co-founder of IstanPol.
